Starting the season

We got a pretty good start to the season for RIT this weekend. The Tigers played a good game against Bowling Green, only to fall 4-2. They rebounded to get a nice win over Western Michigan the next night. Based off the radio coverage (nice job on the cell phone at Bowling Green guys), it seemed like the Tigers played as well as the "better conference" foes.

There is a lot to like so far. The power play scored each night. They even scored a shorty. The penalty kill was solid - better on Saturday by shutting down Western Michigan. The defense played well. Both Louis Menard and Jared DiMichiel played exceptional.

The offense will still need to get better. But they are young and I'm sure will improve. Scott Knowles got his first assist and Tyler Brenner made his first career goal a game winner. It is also good to see Anton Kharin get on the scoresheet early with an assist. We will see what happens.

My MVP for the weekend: Brennan Sarazan - a goal and an assist on the weekend, and it sounded like he was everywhere.
